Long-Term Substitute (LTS) Teacher Policy
Rate of Pay:
Effective August 29, 2022, the District will compensate Long-Term Substitute Teachers based on the degree they hold at the time of hire. A Long-Term Substitute Teacher who provides proof of a Bachelor’s Degree will be compensated at the prorated rate of Bachelor’s Degree, Step 3 for the applicable year. A Long-Term Substitute Teacher who provides proof of a Master’s Degree will be compensated at the prorated rate of Master’s Degree, Step 3 for the applicable year.Classification:
Long-Term Substitute Teachers are considered exempt pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act and are not eligible for any overtime compensation. A Long-Term Substitute Teacher’s prorated annual salary will be converted to a daily rate by applying the fixed number of days the employee is scheduled to work to the annual salary, as Long-Term Substitute Teachers generally start and stop at various points in the school year.Benefits Eligibility:
Long-Term Substitute Teachers are benefits eligible when working 20 hours or more a week, and are able enroll in the Town of Ipswich’s Health and Dental plans, Flexible Spending Account, Life and Disability Insurance, and Voluntary Retirement Options. Long-Term Substitute Teachers will also accrue sick time on a pro-rated basis.
